Baptism


To become a Christian, one must follow Jesus Christ and be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. In the Sacrament of Baptism, all sins are washed away, and a new life begins as a follower of Jesus.

Requirements for a Baptism

  1. The child must be younger than 7 years of age. If the child is 7 years of age or older, contact our Religious Education Office for more information on the process that must be followed.

  2. Godparents must be Catholic and at least 16 years of age

    • Must have received the Sacrament of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.

    • Only 2 Godparents are permitted for the sacraments: 1 woman and/ or 1 man, however, only 1 Godparent is required for the sacrament

    • If the Godparent is single and not living with anyone, we ask for them to provide a copy of their Confirmation Certificate.

    • If the Godparents are a couple, we ask them to be married by the Catholic Church and to provide their Marriage Certificate from the Catholic Church.

    • Couples that are cohabiting or just in a civil union will not be accepted. Married Godparents should be married through the Catholic Church, regardless if their significant other will not be the child’s godfather/godmother

  3. Parents and Godparents must attend 1 talk before the Baptism, if the parents or godparents fail to attend to a talk. the Baptism will be rescheduled.

    REQUIREMENTS TO SCHEDULE A BAPTISM AT SAINT JUDE

    Only parents or legal guardians can schedule a baptism, if there is any need for a Baptism or Pre-Baptismal Talk to be rescheduled it must be done at the Parish Office by the Parent of Legal Guardian.

    All the following documents must be presented to the Parish office in order to reserve a Baptism. NO EXCEPTIONS, if any one of the documents is missing we will be able to proceed with the process.

    1. Child’s original Birth Certificate

    2. Parent/ Legal Guardian must provided a picture identification

    3. Godparent(s) (NO EXCEPTION)

      • Full Legal Name

      • Name of Parish they attend

      • If Married, must provide Marriage Certificate from the Catholic Church

      • If Single, must provide Confirmation Certificate
